Taxonomy
Zherikhinina reni was named by Krzemińska et al. (2009). Its type specimen is CNU BCD 2020, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
