Taxonomy
Protanyderus savtchenkoi was named by Lukashevich and Krzemiński (2009). Its type specimen is PIN 2239/2270, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2239), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
