Taxonomy
Elektrothopomyia tzoltzili was named by Coty and Nel (2013). Its type specimen is MNHN TOT 100, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Rio Totolapa Salado amber (Coty collection, MNHN), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
