Trichosia (Leptosciarella) was named by Tuomikoski (1960). It is extant.

It was reranked as Leptosciarella by Mohrig and Röschmann (2005), Shin et al. (2013), Shin et al. (2019).

It was assigned to Trichosia by Tuomikoski (1960), Mohrig and Röschmann (1994), Röschmann and Mohrig (1995); to Sciaridae by Mohrig and Röschmann (2005); and to Sciarinae by Shin et al. (2013), Shin et al. (2019).
