Taxonomy
Archaeocynips major was named by Rasnitsyn and Kovalev (1988). Its type specimen is PIN 1846/109, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Pavlovka Settlement (PIN collection 1846), which is in an Aptian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Gidarinskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.
