Rumiodon inti n. sp. HOLOTYPE. LACM 144515, isolated right M1. HYPODIGM. The holotype; LACM 140661,isolated right M2; and LACM 140687, isolated left lower premolar.
Taxonomy
Rumiodon inti was named by Goin and Candela (2004). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa (LACM Loc. 6289), which is in a Rupelian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Yahuarango Formation of Peru. It is the type species of Rumiodon.

Candela 2004 | Rumiodon inti differs from other didelphimorphians in the following combination of characters: upper molars much longer than wide, with reduced protocones and well-developed postmetacristae; centrocrista with labial vertex ending very close to labial face of the tooth; paracone and metacone well separated; paraconule vestigial or absent; metaconule reduced; stylar shelf reduced; StA, StB, StC, and StD, at least in M1, anteroposteriorly aligned and labiolingually compressed; StB subequal to StD and larger than StC, which is, in turn, larger than StA. |
