Taxonomy
Mesosigara kryshtofovichi was named by Popov (1971). Its type specimen is PIN 324/2a, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bureya River (PIN collection 324), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Udurchukan Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Mesosigara.
