Taxonomy
Chonostegoides was named by Sarycheva (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 411]. Its type is Chonostegoides ogbinensis.

It was assigned to Chonosteginae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
