Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
R. L. Cifelli and C. Villarroel 1997Distinct from all other Proterotheriidae in having upper and lower canines developed into tusks and large hypocone present on M3. Limbs differ from Proterotheriidae for which the skeleton is known in being more robust and in having relatively shorter distal elements (tibia, metatarsals, first phalanges). Check teeth differ from those of other proterotheriids in being relatively larger.
