Taxonomy
Forcipomyia (Lasiohelea) americana was named by Szadziewski and Grogan (1998). Its type specimen is USNM 7905, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (USNM Brodzinsky Lopez-Pena coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
