Taxonomy
Simulia importuna was named by Meunier (1904). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Simulium importunum by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Greniera importuna by Crosskey (2002), Perkovsky and Sukhomlin (2015), Pielowska et al. (2018).
