Taxonomy
Oliarus lutensis was named by Scudder (1890). Its type specimen is Packard 112, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Green River (Packard Collection), which is in a Bridgerian lacustrine - large diatomite/shale in the Green River Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Eoliarus lutensis by Cockerell (1925), Szwedo et al. (2004).
