Taxonomy
Zaitha vulcanica was named by Cockerell (1908). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 14, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Nepa vulcanica by Hungerford (1932), Nel and Paicheler (1992).
