Taxonomy
Platythyrea pumilio was named by de Andrade (2004). Its type specimen is MCZC-37, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican Amber (MCZ collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
