Taxonomy
Epichirostenotes curriei was named by Sullivan et al. (2011). Its type specimen is ROM 43250, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is John Neills Ranch (75 ft level) [ROM], which is in a Campanian terrestrial sandstone in the Horseshoe Canyon Formation of Canada.

R. M. Sullivan et al. 2011Braincase much deeper than long, with distinctly verticalized basicranial region. Otic region with deep, but anteroposteriorly narrow, lateral depression. Synsacrum composed of six co-ossified vertebrae and pneumatic foramina. Ischium long and expanded posteriorly; broad behind obturator process; obturator process expanded and triangular; and having a prominent anterior proximal hook-like projection.
