Venus amathusia was named by Philippi (1844). It is extant.

It was recombined as Chione (Gnidiella) amathusia by Parker (1949); it was recombined as Chione (Chionopsis) amathusia by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Chionopsis amathusia by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
