Simosthenurus antiquus
Taxonomy
Simosthenurus antiquus was named by Bartholomai (1963). Its type specimen is QM F2875, a maxilla (left maxillary fragment containing P3, M1-2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chinchilla Riffle Range, which is in a Pliocene alluvial fan sandstone/claystone in the Chinchilla Sand Formation of Australia.
