Taxonomy
Gerris lunpolaensis was named by Lin (1981). Its type specimen is NIGP 47600, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lunpola Basin, Baingoin County, which is in a Priabonian lacustrine - large shale in the Niubao Formation of China.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Nel and Paicheler (1993); it was recombined as Aquarius lunpolaensis by Andersen (1998), Damgaard (2008), Cai et al. (2019).
