Taxonomy
Protobittacus moestus was named by Sukatsheva (1985). Its type specimen is PIN 756/11, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Korchakol (PIN collection 756), which is in a Toarcian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Osinovo Formation of the Russian Federation.
