Taxonomy
Dictyopteris didyma was named by Rost (1839). It is an impression. Its type locality is Wettin, which is in a Stephanian C terrestrial shale in the Ottweiler Stufe Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Blattina didyma by Germar (1842), Germar (1851), Heer (1864), Geinitz (1875); it was recombined as Etoblattina didyma by Scudder (1879); it was recombined as Anthracoblattina didyma by Handlirsch (1906), von Schlechtendal (1913), Handlirsch (1920), Handlirsch (1922), Schneider (1978), Schneider (1983).
