Taxonomy
Philiasptilon maculosum was named by Zalessky (1931). It is an impression. Its type locality is Cheremichkino (Tchirkova coll), which is in a Gzhelian pond siliciclastic in the Alykaevskaya Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Philiasptilon.
