Taxonomy
Melanoblattula nigrescens was named by Cockerell (1927). It is an impression. Its type locality is Benson's Clay Mine, Big Savage Mt., which is in a Moscovian terrestrial shale in the Allegheny Formation of Maryland. It is the type species of Melanoblattula.
