Polyetes furcifer
Taxonomy
Polyetes furcifer was named by Handlirsch (1906). Its type specimen is USNM 38823, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Mazon Creek (USNM Collection), which is in a Westphalian D interdistributary bay mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois. It is the type species of Polyetes.
