Leaphis was named by Shcherbakov (2010). Its type is Leaphis prima. It is the type genus of Leaphidinae.

It was assigned to Leaphididae by Szwedo and Nel (2011); and to Leaphidinae by Shcherbakov (2010), Heie and Wegierek (2011).
