Taxonomy
Hemisphaerocoryphe was named by Reed (1896). It is not extant. Its type is Sphaerexochus pseudohemicranium.

It was reranked as Sphaerocoryphe (Hemisphaerocoryphe) by Zhou et al. (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Sphaerocoryphe by Jell and Adrain (2002).

It was assigned to Sphaerocoryphe by Zhou et al. (1998); to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); to Deiphoninae by Nikolaisen (1961), Hansen (2005); and to Cheiruridae by Warburg (1925), Zhou et al. (2014).
