Taxonomy

Termes (Mixotermes) was named by Sterzel (1881). Its type is Termes (Mixotermes) lugauensis. It is the type subgenus of Mixotermitidae.

It was reranked as Mixotermes by Froggatt (1897), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Termes by Sterzel (1881); to Calotermitinae by Froggatt (1897); to Mixotermitidae by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922); and to Neoptera by Carpenter (1992).
