Taxonomy
Apopnus magniclavus was named by Handlirsch (1921). Its type specimen is Ernst Moritz Arndt Universitat Greifswald 57/19, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
