Khalfinella was named by Elkin (1964) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi-l D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 421,1106]. It is not extant. Its type is Proetus carinatus.
It was assigned to Lacunoporaspinae by Pillet (1972); to Proetinae by Zhou et al. (2000); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
