Malongullia was named by Webby and Moors (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-u Sepkoski's reference number: 386]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Raphiophoridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
