Notonecta xyphiale
Taxonomy
Clypostemma xyphiale was named by Popov (1964). Its type specimen is PIN 1668/1738, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Baissa (PIN collection 1668, layer 31), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large siltstone/marl in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Notonecta xyphiale by Nel and Paicheler (1992), Zhang et al. (2012).
