Taxonomy
Colossocossus rugosa was named by Menon et al. (2005). Its type specimen is SMNS 65503, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Crato (SMNS collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil.
