Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
K. -Q. Gao and L. A. Nessov 1998Oxia karakalpakensis is distinguished from other members of the family Xenosauridae in having more conspicuous subdental shelf, weakly heterodont dentition, and having weak striations on medial surface of crowns. Distinguished from Shinsaurus by having heterodont teeth with weakly striated crowns, much stronger subdental shelf, and well-defined gap between basal line of tooth row and dorsal edge of subdental shelf. Distinguished from Xenosaurus and its related fossil taxon Exostinus by having medial extension of teeth shaft and somewhat chisel-shaped crowns with anteroposteriorly oriented cutting edge.
