Taxonomy

Aphanus was named by Laporte de Castelnau (1833). It is extant.

It was assigned to Lygaeidae by Scudder (1890); and to Gonianotini by Péricart (2001).

Synonyms

Pachymerus was named by Le Peletier and Serville (1825). It is extant.

It was replaced with Aphanus by Popov et al. (1994), Péricart (2001).

It was assigned to Lygaeidae by Scudder (1877).
Pachymerus cruciatus was named by Heer (1861).

It was considered a nomen nudum by Heer (1861).
