Taxonomy
Permopsocus ovatus was named by Carpenter (1939). Its type specimen is MCZ 4336, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Elmo, MCZ 1935 collection Upper Limestone, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.
