Meitanella was named by Zhang et al. (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Meitanella hastata.
It was assigned to Redlichiidae by Zhang et al. (1980); to Redlichiida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Yinitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
