Taxonomy
Monura was named by Sharov (1957).

It was synonymized subjectively with Machilida by Rasnitsyn (2004); it was reranked as the suborder Monura by Carpenter (1992), Zhang et al. (2018).

It was assigned to Apterygogenea by Kukalová-Peck and Lawrence (2004); and to Archaeognatha by Carpenter (1992), Zhang et al. (2018).
