Taxonomy
Ceratites buchianus was named by de Koninck (1863).

It was recombined as Xenodiscus buchianus by Griesbach (1880); it was recombined as Prionolobus buchianus by Waagen (1895), Spath (1934) and Ware and Bucher (2018).
