Taxonomy
Pleuronautilus yahagiensis was named by Ehiro (1995). Its type specimen is IGPS 102684 and is a mold. Its type locality is Nakadaira, Yahagi town, Rikuzen-Takata City, Iwate Prefecture, which is in a Sakmarian marine shale in the Nakadaira Formation of Japan.
