Mecistotrachelos apeoros
Taxonomy
Mecistotrachelos apeoros was named by Fraser et al. (2007). Its type specimen is VMNH 3650, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Solite Quarries (VMNH collection), which is in a Norian lacustrine - small shale in the Cow Branch Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Mecistotrachelos.
