Aussiedraco was named by Kellner et al. (2011). Its type is Aussiedraco molnari. It was considered monophyletic by Kellner et al. (2011).
It was assigned to Pteranodontoidea by Kellner et al. (2011); and to Targaryendraconia by Pegas et al. (2020).
