Laccosmylus was named by Ren and Yin (2003). It is not extant. Its type is Laccosmylus calophlebius.
It was assigned to Saucrosmylinae by Ren and Yin (2003); and to Saucrosmylidae by Fang et al. (2015), Fang et al. (2018), Winterton et al. (2019).
