Taxonomy
Lipanteris sparsispinosus was named by Briggs (1986). Its type specimen is UQF 72797 and is a mold. Its type locality is UQ L4566, Buffel Hill, Cracow Homestead, which is in an Artinskian coastal siliciclastic in the Buffel Formation of Australia.
