Taxonomy
Grammatodon was named by Meek and Hayden (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett K Ceno-u Sepkoski's reference number: 93]. It is not extant. Its type is Arca (Cucullaea) inornata. It is the type genus of Grammatodontinae.
It was assigned to Grammatodontinae by Vokes (1980) and Gliozzi and Malatesta (1983); to Arcoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Parallelodontinae by Scholz et al. (2008); and to Parallelodontidae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
