Bunopithecus sericus
Taxonomy
Bunopithecus sericus was named by Matthew and Granger (1923). Its type specimen is AMNH 18534, a mandible (lower jaw with m2-m3 on the left side), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yen-ching-kao, which is in a Pleistocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in China. It is the type species of Bunopithecus.
It was recombined as Hylobates (Bunopithecus) sericus by Prouty et al. (1983).
