Taxonomy
Elginia mirabilis was named by Newton (1893). Its type specimen is GSE 4783 to 4788, a partial skeleton, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Cutties Hillock Millstone Quarry, which is in a Changhsingian fluvial sandstone in the Cutties Hillock Sandstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
