Polyptychites middendorffi was named by Pavlov (1914). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Siberiptychites (Siberiptychites) middendorffi by Jeletzky (1986); it was recombined as Siberiptychites (Pseudoeuryptychites) middendorffi by Jeletzky and Kemper (1988).
