Taxonomy
Rhipaeosaurus tricuspidens was named by Efremov (1940). Its type specimen is PIN 164/2, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belebei, PIN 164, which is in an Urzhumian fluvial sandstone in the Belebei Formation of the Russian Federation.
