Atocus was named by Scudder (1892). It is not extant. Its type is Atocus defessus.
It was assigned to Tenthredinidae by Scudder (1892); to Neurotomini by Rasnitsyn (1983); to Pamphiliidae by Carpenter (1992), Nel (2004); to Pamphiliinae by Taeger et al. (2010); and to Juralydinae by Wang et al. (2014), Archibald and Rasnitsyn (2015).
