Schindewolfoceras was named by Miller (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302,457]. It is not extant. Its type is Goniatites chemungensis.
It was assigned to Sandbergeroceratinae by Arkell et al. (1957); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Triainoceratidae by Korn and Klug (2002), Korn (2006).
