Triplectides was named by Kolenati (1858). It is extant. It is the type genus of Triplectidinae, Triplectidini.
It was assigned to Leptoceridae by Carpenter (1992), Wichard et al. (2009); to Triplectidini by Morse (1981), Melnitsky and Ivanov (2010), Malm and Johanson (2011); and to Triplectidinae by Wichard (2013).
